Boston College Football Not-Gameday Morning

It’s a Saturday, but not a Boston College football Saturday. That does tend to diminish the quality of the day.

At this point, we do not know when the Eagles’ next football game is, though we can answer a few basic questions about it: there will be one in December 2013 or January 2014, it is not going to be within the next two weekends, and there is no opponent yet decided.

While you watch other teams do battle in their conference championships, ponder the following:

Where is Boston College bowling?
We know it’s not going to be the Belk Bowl, though that’s hardly a surprise. With Notre Dame going to the Pinstripe Bowl, that’s probably out though it would be a very intriguing game and one that many alumni could attend without much trouble. One would have to think there’s interest in making that happen, since it would be a somewhat high-profile rivalry game, though there’s no telling how realistic that is.

When will we know the bowl arrangements?
If it hasn’t been announced by the time of this posting, word could literally come at any time now. Teams have already been accepting invitations and with the regular season basically over as of tonight and BCS bowls being set very shortly, it’s not going to take long for the invitations to go out. Boston College fans will probably be able to start planning within 48 hours or so.

Who are they playing?
Good question. There’s really no way to tell at this point given that there are still many spots open and there’s no clear destination for the Eagles yet. In August, you’d have thought any bowl opponent would be a good thing.

Do we have rooting interests today?
None officially, though you might have your own per your personal preferences. Jameis Winston will probably win the Heisman regardless of what happens tonight against Duke, but that doesn’t mean you can’t hope he somehow helps Andre Williams recover some ground. Otherwise, kick back and enjoy being a spectator.
