North Carolina State at Boston College: 5 Big Questions
By Joe Micik
2. What sort of game can we expect as far as scoring goes?
Probably low-scoring, perhaps moderate. Most likely not high.
Neither offense is that productive when all is said and done, but the difference might be that we have Andre Williams, the nation’s leading rusher, and they don’t. In fact, Williams has a large percentage of the Wolfpack’s team rushing yards (1,637) by himself (1,471).
Elsewhere, for all the criticism Chase Rettig has taken this year, he hasn’t been asked to do a lot but he hasn’t thrown many interceptions. Rettig has 14 touchdowns and four interceptions in 190 attempts this year; NC State’s two starters (Pete Thomas and Brandon Mitchell) have just four touchdowns and 15 interceptions in 295 attempts. Chase Rettig has thrown ten more touchdown passes than they have on a hundred or so fewer attempts, in case you were wondering about the Wolfpack offense this year compared to ours.
In any event, a slugfest seems fairly unlikely.
