2. True or false: Doug Martin’s recent past employment by Boston College will give New Mexico State a tactical advantage.
False. This is a completely different coaching staff and the schemes are different. Martin’s defense hasn’t been able to stop anything this year and he has not encountered Don Brown’s defense except through game film.
Yes, he knows some of the key players, such as Chase Rettig. But Rettig’s not really running the show offensively anymore, is he? That responsibility now falls to Andre Williams, and by the way, when Martin was here, the Eagles’ run game was one of the least productive in the entire nation.
Bottom line, there are a lot of things Boston College does not do the same as last year, anyway. Even at that, we fans sometimes overrate a former coach knowing a team’s personnel and procedures, but Martin has no insight into Addazio’s locker room beyond what any of the other opposing coaches know.
