Virginia Tech at Boston College: 5 Big Questions
By Joe Micik
1. Is Virginia Tech’s defense the best the Eagles have faced this season?
Probably. Florida State’s and Clemson’s are plenty good, no doubt about that, but this is a defense that is not only very good, but one that has a history of being very good against us.
We saw the defensive stats: they’re top five in the nation in points and yards allowed, have the lowest opposing quarterback rating in the nation, and are top ten in third downs and sacks per game. Keep in mind that these numbers include getting smacked around by Alabama. Since allowing 35 to the Tide, they’ve allowed 3, 10, 21, 10, 17, 9, and 13. It’s going to be difficult to move the ball and one can expect Nate Freese to get some extra punting practice.
