The Boston College Eagles figured out a way to escape upset victim status on Saturday with a solid second half against the Villanova Wildcats, improving to 1-0 in the brand new season. Boston College will look to match last season’s win total in a Friday night special against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

That the line collapsed back inward after just a few hours suggests that the bettors see the Wake Forest/Boston College game the same way that many of us do: as a toss-up. This is one of those “swing games” in which Boston College has a legitimate shot but is far from a lock, and it could help get them to six wins later or be the game we lament in November if they lose.

In many ways, this is Boston College’s most promising ACC contest this season. They’re at home, they’re playing a mediocre opponent, and they’re coming off of a win. BC might not have a more favorable situation within their conference the rest of the way, so if anyone here is planning on this team getting to six, then this is a game the Eagles probably have to win.
