Boston College Football Countdown: 15 Days to Go

facebooktwitterreddit

At this point, I don’t think I have to tell you how long until Boston College football. You probably know.

Who Wears 15 Now

James Walsh, QB, freshman

Walsh is a newcomer to the Eagles who is likely to redshirt for the 2013 season. In high school, he was a productive dual-threat quarterback with 46 total touchdowns as a junior and senior. His other offers were from Akron, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Ohio, and Toledo.

Notables Who Wore 15

Dave Shinskie, QB, 2009-12. Elder statesman (literally) and former starter; called “Uncle Dave.”
Dominique Davis, QB, 2008. Bailed for ECU; now Matt Ryan’s backup in Atlanta.
Quinton Porter, QB, 2003-05. Successor to Paul Peterson; predecessor to Matt Ryan.
George Radachowsky, CB, 1980-83. BC Varsity Club Hall of Famer.

On The Ground

William Green (2001) and Mike Esposito (1973) each had seasons where they scored 15 rushing touchdowns. These are tied for the third-most in program history.

Montel (Not The Talk Show Host)

Montel Harris scored 15 total touchdowns in 2009, his best season as an Eagle.

Tribble (Not The Star Trek Prop)

DeJuan Tribble had the third-most interceptions in Boston College history with 15.

Speaking of Uncle Dave

Shinskie threw 15 touchdown passes as a freshman, which is a BC record for that class level. Of course, he was older than most college seniors at the time.

Quarterback Down

Mike Willetts (1996-99) finished his Eagles career with 15 sacks.

From The Tackles Department

Bryce Jones collected 15 tackles during the 2012 season.

On The Carpet

Boston College’s defense forced 15 fumbles over the course of last season.
