2013 BC Football Unit Preview: Fullback

The Starter

Jake Sinkovec, senior

Sinkovec is a linebacker turned tight end turned fullback. You gotta love it. This Wisconsinite played in seven games last season and scored his only career touchdown so far in Week 1. One would have to figure that fullback is an “Addazio type of position” and, as such, it will be heavily utilized. Sinkovec has shown he can catch a few passes, but if he can figure out running the ball as well, he can really help two essential elements of the BC offense. He may be called upon to do just that, with the running back situation being what it is.

The Backup

Jarrett Darmstatter, junior

Darmstatter has been listed as a tight end forever but, even though he played in all but one of BC’s games last year, he has been largely invisible as much of his work has come on special teams. Now, he’s listed on the two-deep as the backup fullback, which may present him with a real opportunity to make an impact. At 251, he’s a few pounds heavier than Sinkovec, but how will he play? Honestly, we’ve seen so little of him over the years that it’s not easy to judge, but any contributions Darmstatter can make will be greatly welcomed.
