Boston College Football Countdown: 20 Days to Go
By Joe Micik
We’re now getting into what some might call the home stretch as the Boston College Eagles football season is less than three weeks away. 20 days, to be exact.
Who Wears 20 Now
Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports
Tahj Kimble, RB, junior
Kimble, entering his third season at Boston College, has mostly been relegated to backup duty. Last season, thanks to injuries, he went from ten games as a redshirt freshman to just three as a sophomore. He hurt himself during the 2012 spring game and again mid-season, resulting in knee surgery. As a result, his status is highly questionable as we approach the start of the 2013 season, and the depth issues may result in some true freshman getting carries.
Notables Who Wore 20
• Gerard Phelan, WR, 1981-84. BC Varsity Club Hall of Famer; famously caught the Hail Mary.
• Don Allard, QB, 1956-58. #4 overall pick in 1959 NFL Draft.
• Derrick Knight, RB, 2000-03. Was BC’s all-time leading rusher at the time of his departure.
• Mike Mayock, SS, 1976-80. 1980 team captain; NFL Network analyst.

Bowling
Boston College also only needed 20 points to beat Georgia in the 2001 Music City Bowl.
From The Tackle Department
Josh Keyes and Max Ricci each collected 20 tackles in 2012. Keyes will look to add more, while Ricci is out of football.
Could Have Used A Few More Tackles
Last year, Boston College gave up 20 rushing touchdowns (they scored seven).
Net Loss
Chris Hovan finished his Boston College career with 20 tackles for a loss, which is second only to Mathias Kiwanuka.
From The Backfield
Dave Dudeck, as we learned yesterday, caught 21 passes last year; the longest of those were 20-yard receptions against Army and Maryland.
Hauling In
Dedrick Dewalt and Pete Mitchell are both tied with the second-most touchdown receptions in Boston College history, each having had 20.

In three separate polls, Boston College has finished a season ranked #20: 1983 (UPI) and 2006 (AP and Coaches).
Perfection
The ’20 Eagles were a perfect 8-0, outscoring opponents 161-16. That team pitched six shutouts, and what did they have to show for it? Zip.
