Post-season and Beyond

The 2013-14 season will in many ways be make-or-break for the Eagles. It will be the season in which we learn whether this team — which by then will be mostly upperclassmen and a number of very talented underclassmen — will start to swim, or if they’re going to hit the wall and sink in a much tougher ACC.

Players, coaches, and even fans can take several positives away from the 2012-13 season. Even though the end result was far from perfect, the team did finally start to show improvement towards the conclusion of the year. By March, Boston College, the same team that lost a home game to Bryant in November, was blowing Georgia Tech away in the conference tournament and taking the eventual champions and national #2 seed down to the wire. There were bumps and bruises along the way, and not everyone improved, but the team went from a 9-win joke to a respectable 16-win club with some upside. It also gave rise to some new maroon and gold faces who will be hurting ACC foes for years to come.

It remains to be seen what will happen next year, but even though last year ended with a sub-.500 record, the feeling around here is a lot better than before it started. There may even be some hope and optimism by the opening tip in November.
