Right before Boston College trapped Maryland on the floor of Conte Forum, the third floor of the Yawkey Center received word of an equally impressive victory in the verbal commitment of RB Marcus Outlow. The 6’0 ft 190 lb running back out of Norwich Free Academy in Connecticut already had offers from Ohio State, Florida, Iowa, and UConn according to ESPN.
Seeing head coach Steve Addazio beat out his former boss Urban Meyer and former employer in Florida for an early recruit is really exciting for BC’s fanbase after a slightly underwhelming 2013 recruiting class.
The story was first broke on Twitter:
And this seemed to be confirmed multiple times by Marcus Outlow himself on Twitter:
Okay, maybe the whole tweeting at 3 AM is not a great sign for Outlow’s sleep cycle, but obviously he’s done fine with it so far. Outlow told ESPN further in a text message that “I chose BC because, one, the academics are Ivy League level. Two, the coaches really care about the type of person I am. They want to better me not just as a football player but also as a man.I love the distance,Family is huge to me and them being able to see games was a major reason I chose here…Coach Addazio runs the football. They also want me as the centerpiece as a freshman. Doesn’t get better than that.”
We’re glad to welcome Marcus Outlow as the first 2014 commit to the Heights and we hope this is a sign of great things to come on the recruiting trail for Boston College!! Also if you want some excitement, watch Outlow’s recruiting tape via BCI:
