Coming off his first career playoff win last week against the Seahawks, Atlanta Falcons QB and legendary BC Alum Matt Ryan was seeking to continue his team’s run against the 49ers. But despite the Falcons getting off to a 17-0 lead early in the second quarter, the Niners climbed out of the rut and stole victory from the jaws of defeat by a score of 28-24.
Matty Ice had a quality game(30/42,396 yds,3td/1int) for the most part, but it seemed like our pride and joy fell when it mattered the most. In the midst of a third quarter drive, Ryan was intercepted by Chris Culliver at the San Francisco 38, ending a quality scoring chance. Then on the next Atlanta possession, Matt Ryan fumbled a snap, turning the ball over again at the Niner 28.
The Falcons were unable to score throughout the 2nd half and when Matt Ryan’s pass was swatted down by NaVorro Bowman at the 10 yard line, Atlanta’s season was effectively over, save for a last ditch Hail Mary attempt.
We hope Matt Ryan can come back from this defeat standing tall and be ready to get back to work.
