Brad Bates has been on the job for less than a month, and he’s already earning his paycheck.
An announcement came down on Wednesday afternoon that Boston College Athletics and Ohio State Athletics have agreed to a two-game football series that would get the teams together in 2020 and 2021.
Under the plan, the Eagles would travel to Columbus to face the Buckeyes on September 19, 2020 (apparently Week 3) and Ohio State would play at Boston College on September 18, 2021.
The Eagles and Buckeyes have met three times in the past, though Boston College has lost all three games. Those games took place in 1989, 1990, and 1995.
This is very good news for BC, who now have a high-quality opponent on their schedule for those two seasons. It will be tremendous exposure for the program, and hopefully two good games.
The freshman class that will be suiting up for that first game at The Horseshoe is currently 10 years old. At least wait until 2018 or so before complaining that these are potential losses. Seriously, there’s nothing to complain about on our end. This is a great thing for the program and Bates should be applauded for getting the deal done.
