101 Days of BC Football: Mike Javorski, #39
By Joe Micik
Here’s a three-year walk-on who is coming back for one final season in the maroon and gold. Mike Javorski is still around, and is one of two guys donning #39.
This senior from Illinois, yet another one from this state, made a few appearances at running back last season. He barely cracked the stat sheet, but got into three games nevertheless. Prior to that, Javorski was a “valuable scout team member.”
Before his arrival at Boston College, Javorski’s high school career played out at St. Ignatius Prep in Chicago. During his senior season, he was named to the All-Chicago Catholic League team as a running back, but believe it or not, Javorski was also the kicker.
Walk-ons typically shine during spring football season, but Javorski was not on the spring roster. This led intrigued BC fans to question whether or not he would be on the team for his senior season, but his re-emergence was confirmed in July. It’s possible that he was injured or otherwise unable to play.
I’m expecting Javorski to see some playing time in 2012. It won’t be much, but it will be playing time nevertheless. This being his senior season, the coaches will probably let him into a few games for some carries, most likely at garbage time, but outside of that, we probably won’t get much production.
