101 Days of BC Football: Dominique Williams, #9

First: my apologies to Dominique Williams — the picture of you giving up the touchdown was the only correctly scaled one I had

There are two Number 9s on the Boston College Eagles football team, and one of them is actually on the depth chart. Dominique Williams, a local from Brockton, will enter his redshirt sophomore season at BC in the fall.

Williams played in ten games in 2011, his redshirt freshman year, and recorded 18 tackles, 10 solo. He did not appear on the stat sheet in any other ways, but in spite of that, Eagles fans know that he is capable of contributing.

Unfortunately for him, he’s not all the way at the top of the depth chart this time around. Williams is listed at strong safety behind Jim Noel and in a second-place tie with Spenser Rositano. He has made the two-deep and as BC fans know, depth is an issue. Williams will have to contribute when he’s called upon this upcoming season, and he’ll have to remain healthy. Luckily, his ability to compete was not much of an issue last season, as he got into 10 games, but one would imagine that if he’s healthy, he’ll see action in all of them this season.

Williams will get his fair share of chances to stand out in 2012, especially if the worst happens and there are injuries or other assorted losses of manpower in the defensive backfield. Regardless, he will get playing time.
