Boston College at Miami: 5 Big Questions with Canes Warning
By Joe Micik
Before you hit the road for Grandma’s house for Thanksgiving, we have serious business to which to attend.
There’s no question that it has been an interesting football season for Boston College’s final opponent, the Miami Hurricanes, to say the least. At one point, with the NCAA swarming on Coral Gables, some weren’t even sure there WOULD be a season, but former BC assistant Al Golden can lock up a winning record with a victory.
For the last 5BQ segment of the 2011 football season, I reached out to another Fansided ACC blog, Canes Warning, for some insight on the Hurricanes.
5.) Al Golden took over a program that started the season with some major headaches. How do you evaluate his first year in Coral Gables?
Canes Warning: The Hurricanes are only 6-5 and decided not to play in a bowl game, but overall Golden’s first year on campus has been a success. The team has its problems, but the Canes are playing better football than they have in probably five or six years. Miami is actually a few plays away from 11-0, and should have beaten both Kansas State (couldn’t punch the ball in from the two-yard line in four tries) and Virginia Tech (blew a lead with under three minutes to go). It’s easy to play the woulda-coulda-shoulda game, but unlike last year’s team that looked every bit its mediocre 7-6 record, Golden has this year’s team playing much better than its 6-5 record would indicate.
