Women’s hockey: Split weekend; beat Providence 3-1, lose to Maine 5-2
The #4 Eagles went 1-1 between Friday and Sunday, winning on the road in Providence but losing at home to the Black Bears of Maine.
BC’s win on Friday was their first Hockey East road win of the season, and they did it behind 37 saves from junior goalie Corinne Boyles. Stopping all but one of the Friars’ 38 shots earned her the #1 star and her fifth win of the season.
The loss on Sunday was BC’s first defeat in the conference, as Boyles, who played well on Friday, got hit up for five scores and only made eight saves. Kiera Kingston came into the game for the last 16:03 and stopped three Maine shots. Jackie Young and Dru Burns both had two points a piece.
The win at Providence was fine, but the loss to Maine will probably drop them a few spots in the upcoming poll.
