The bye week is over, the season has already pretty much spun out of control, and there are plenty of things BC fans want to know about the upcoming game with the Hokies.

5.) Will the recent bye have any effect on how the Eagles play?

As I figured on Monday, the Eagles may be fresher. Unfortunately, fresher does not necessarily mean better.

I’m not convinced Boston College does anything more than a half-assed job at game-planning, anyway, since we see virtually the same approach every week, so the extra week probably won’t be of much help there.

Perhaps the bye gave them some more time in practice, but we’re fooling ourselves if we think that a couple more practice sessions is going to cure everything wrong with this team. BC football is flawed at a fundamental level and the people on the sidelines wearing headsets are still going to be as clueless on Saturday as they were on October 8 at Clemson.

What we’ve seen out there in the first half of the season was not a product of “oh, the guys just ran out of gas and need a week off,” because they haven’t been playing well since Day 1.

It won’t really even help on the injury front, since guys like Montel, Ramsey, and Momah are already shut down for the year, anyway.
