So the Eagles lost their home opener to #3 Denver; they made up for it the next night by winning an all-important conference game on the road by taking down the New Hampshire Wildcats, 5-1. With the win, Boston College are 3-1 (1-0) while New Hampshire are 0-3 (0-3).

The Eagles looked in control right from the start, and even when things got tough, BC willed their way past the Wildcats and kept expanding their lead. Boston College scored first on a Brian Dumoulin goal a few minutes into the game, but on an early power play opportunity for New Hampshire, they converted after only 18 seconds had elapsed in the man-advantage. The Eagles got that goal back a little later in the first on a goal by Paul Carey, and increased it again to 3-1 on a Bill Arnold goal heading into the first intermission.

The second period only had one Eagles goal, coming off of the stick of Chris Kreider. The third also only had one Eagles goal, coming from freshman phenom Johnny Gaudreau, giving us the final score of the night.

Parker Milner had a very good night, stopping around 40 UNH shots (it’s great writing recaps when stats are unavailable) and only allowing one goal on a power play.

Boston College did what they had to do, dominating a team by kicking them when they were down. For the Eagles, it’s a solid win and a conference victory, giving them their first two points of the season. While it was a nice win for Boston College, it was, however, a particularly bad (though not entirely unexpected) loss for New Hampshire. The Wildcats now fall to 0-3, all conference losses, and are off to a particularly bad start. UNH has been outscored 14-1 in their first three games and have gotten thoroughly socked in the mouth by each of the three teams they’ve faced.

The Eagles’ next game is on Friday at home against UMass.
