Re-Evaluating BC Football’s Second-Half Schedule
By Joe Micik
What we thought about this game in the offseason
The Irish look even more improved this year than last, and going out to South Bend and winning will be a tall order for this BC team. Notre Dame made BC look very bad at home in their last meeting and though one cannot expect another blowout, the Irish just look like a better team right now. This is quite possibly the hardest game on the schedule, even harder than Florida State (which, to its benefit for BC, is a primetime game at home).
What we think about it now
Notre Dame slipped and fell early in the year, but they have gotten back up and look to be better than Boston College. All things considered, their two losses aren’t even looking that bad at this point, either. BC’s losses, on the other hand, range from understandable (Clemson) to catastrophic (Duke).
The Irish can score points at a much higher rate than Boston College, and that should be of definite concern to Eagles fans.
Boston College win probability
Low. The only reason this isn’t “very low” is because this is a big rivalry game and the guys will play hard for their own personal pride. The Irish are simply a better team than BC right now, and although they’re not some highly-ranked team like the national football pundits predicted (as they seemingly do on an annual basis), this looks like one of the least-likely wins remaining.
