First, the TV feed went out.

Next, the Boston College online radio feed went out.

Finally, the lights in the arena went out.

Some days, it just ain’t happening. But it was happening for the Boston College Eagles, as they win their 2011-2012 season opener against Michigan State, 5-2.

Boston College’s goals were scored by Patrick Brown, Patch Alber, Chris Kreider, Steven Whitney, and Barry Almeida. Michigan State’s goals were netted by Brett Perlini and Trevor Nill.

Don’t let the final score fool you: this was actually a close game all the way through until almost the very end. At the end of one period, it was scoreless, and at the end of two periods, the Eagles led 2-1. Shots on goal were quite lopsided towards the Eagles, however. Michigan State managed to tie the game at two before Chris Kreider (in a goal I’m guessing most of us wish we saw, given how the announcers raved about it) put the Eagles back on top for good minutes later.

Most of us might not have been able to see it, but it’s nevertheless a solid opening win for the Eagles. They will play the winner of Air Force/North Dakota tomorrow at the same time, and with the way things are going, we might not be able to watch that one, either.

It’s just nice to have a BC team that wins, isn’t it?
