The top five BC sports moments of 2010-2011
By Joe Micik
#2: March 19, 2011: Men’s hockey wins Hockey East tournament
Merrimack was a tough out this past season, but Boston College was tougher. In an intense game at the TD Garden, Boston College men’s hockey dismissed the Warriors by a 5-3 score and won back-to-back Hockey East titles, and their third in four years. For our senior class (more on how their season ultimately ended in a future article, and you can probably guess what it will be given that this is “the top five best BC moments of the year”), this was their final win as BC Eagles, and happily for them, it involved raising a banner and holding the Lamoriello Trophy.
The Beanpot wins were fun games in and of themselves, but the reason this made the list and those didn’t is because those games didn’t mean anything at the end of the day. This one did, and it was another great win for a program that is used to great wins.
