One more freshman: Patrick Heckmann commits to BC
By Joe Micik
Today, Boston College will announce (h/t Eric Hoffses) that Coach Steve Donahue has secured the commitment of 6-5 guard Patrick Heckmann. After some speculation that he would be part of the class of 2012, Heckmann will join a large freshman class in 2011.
Heckmann is a German player, born in Mainz (Rhineland-Palatinate, southwest Germany) who has received interest from a number of teams, including Michigan, but the Eagles were the ones who landed him. UMHoops did all the leg work on Heckmann for me, so check that article out for some information and videos.
Most recently, he has played for TV Langen, where in the 2010-2011 season he averaged 11.8 points per game,3.3 rebounds per game, and 3.1 assists per game in an average of 28 minutes per game. In 2010, he played on the German under-18 team in the European championships, where he averaged 12.3 points per game (team’s leading scorer), 3.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists (team leader).
I don’t know much about him, but I look forward to seeing him play. Let’s all give Patrick a big willkommen to Boston College.
