BC wastes HC, restores order

In the matchup of two Massachusetts Jesuit former rivals, and my alma mater against my older brother’s alma mater, the Boston College Eagles have recovered from their loss to Yale last weekend by taking down Holy Cross, 69-54. Corey Raji led Boston College with 15 points while Danny Rubin, the freshman making his first NCAA start, was right behind with 14.

The Eagles trailed only briefly in the first half, and led the rest of the way. It was a close contest for roughly the first two thirds, until Boston College pulled away late. The 3-ball, unlike in the Yale game, was falling again for BC as they made 10 of them. We knew it coming in, and we know it now: BC will live and die by the 3, which is quite something when we have a team of such mediocre shooters.

I did not watch the game, because I couldn’t, but going by what Meterparel and Huckaby were saying, BC played with much more energy tonight. That, of course, is nice to see following the loss. Donahue probably busted their asses all weekend.

With the win, BC is 2-1 and heads to Orlando to face their first real test: the Texas A&M; Aggies on Thanksgiving. This will be BC’s first real gauge of where they are this season — more to come later on this week.
