Boston College in the ACC Tournament for the second straight year

With their mildly surprising 6-3 win over Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon, salvaging one game of three in the series, Boston College (29-26, 14-16) has qualified for the 2010 ACC Baseball Tournament.  It took some timely execution and a great deal of luck, but BC will be the #8 team in the field of 8.  I know, it’s not that glamorous, but at least they’re in.

In last year’s ACC Tournament, Boston College was the 8 seed and managed to win two games, but Florida State advanced to the championship game on the tiebreaker.  In a few days, I will take the liberty of reminding all of you about the tournament format and BC’s place in it, breaking down all of the games the Eagles will play.  It begins with a round-robin, so BC will face three teams in their pool.  BC will play in the 1-4-5-8 seed pool, which means a game against Virginia (groan).  The ACC Tournament begins on Wednesday in Greensboro, NC.

The regular season finale victory meant BC’s 14th ACC win, which is the most they have had in this conference.
