Al Skinner: A retrospective
By Joe Micik
(Try not to look at the video itself — that’s why I made it as small as possible)
Boston College coach Al Skinner will take his leave after thirteen seasons. Now it’s time to look back before we look forward. This ended up being his track record at this school:
The good:
-2001 Big East Championship
-2001 National Coach of the Year
-Big East Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2005
-20-0 start in 2004-2005
-Sweet 16 appearance in 2006
-7 NCAA Tournament appearances
The bad:
-Two bad seasons out of the last three
-Hit or miss recruiting
-Thirteen years without inbounds play
-A number of early flameouts in the Big Dance
-Some real head-scratchers for coaching decisions
Fare thee well, Al. We hardly knew ye. I’m sure I’ll have more to say later.
