Turkey time and other links I’ve found

First, I would like to direct your attention to two interviews relevant to your Boston College interests. The guys at BCDraft spoke to Troy Bell, formerly of Boston College basketball, and the guys at BCI spoke to Mike McLaughlin, recently of BC football. You don’t want to miss those. I guess the question now is: who out there wants to be interviewed by lovable old me for Soaring to Glory? (crickets) Alright, moving on.
Now then, we’ve got a game tonight, don’t we? At 7pm (on ESPNU…sorry on-campus BC students, you’ll have to watch on some shady website), Virginia Tech will come up to Boston College and, if nothing else, BC can try to exact a little revenge on them for the crushing one-point loss they suffered earlier this season. I mean, let’s be honest, it was part BC’s fault and part the refs’ fault, but still. With that said, I sincerely hope it’s not the same officiating crew.
In any case, this game is a pick ’em. BC would need the win to rise to 5-8 and put themselves in a position to possibly be able to jump over both Virginia and Georgia Tech in the next few games. That would get them to the 7 seed in the ACC Tournament, which would line BC up to play the two-seed and then possibly the three before the finals. That’s a hell of a lot better than having to face the one-seed right out of the first round if BC got that far, even if I think Duke can be beaten (but that’s always a tricky proposition). The two and three at the moment are Maryland and Virginia Tech: BC should have beaten VT the first time, might beat them the second (but who knows), and as for Maryland, well, if BC plays as badly in the ACCT as they did on 1/16 against the Terps, we won’t have to be watching the tourney for very long.
Anyway, the name of the game is win and move up the conference standings ladder. I will take anything that resembles salvaging some pride at this point, even if it means winning a few of their remaining games and not going 4-12 in the ACC. I must say yet again, however, that it’s important not to read too much into beating a terrible UNC team on Saturday. Tonight will tell us if BC is interested in a respectable finish this year.
