ACC Week 2: A little better

Kent State at Boston College

BC wins 34-7.  Read the review here.

Clemson at #15 Georgia Tech

GT wins 30-27.  Another exciting ACC game after the Miami-FSU contest on Monday.  Georgia Tech is the better team, but they left the door wide open for the Tigers.  Credit to Clemson for not quitting.

#19 North Carolina at Connecticut

UNC wins 12-10 on a late safety.  They were unimpressive for a majority of the game (though they dominated in terms of yardage) but shut UConn out in the 4th quarter to keep themselves ranked for another week.

Stanford at Wake Forest

Wake wins 24-17.  This was another game that looked potentially bad for the ACC, with the Cardinal leading by 14, but two touchdowns in the fourth quarter tied and gave the Deacs the win, respectively.  Riley Skinner (a person whom you should not google image search if you’re not into guys) punched in the game-winner with two seconds left.

Murray State at NC State

NC State wins 65-7.  BC’s ex-coach and his team were saving all of their points for this week.  I’m not sure if this makes South Carolina better for holding them to 3, or Murray State worse for allowing 65.

Duke at Army

Duke wins 35-19.  Army had the early lead but the Blue Devils rallied big in the second half.  This is one of the few wins they’ll gather this year so they should probably enjoy it.

Marshall at #14 Virginia Tech

VT wins 52-10.  The Thundering Herd were never really in this one as the Hokies reasserted themselves following last week’s loss to Alabama.  They had an easier game today than the team they lost to last week, but not by much.

#16 TCU at Virginia

TCU wins 30-14.  The Wahoos are now 0-2, with the only difference from last week being that this loss was totally expected.  You’re looking at the worst team in the ACC right now.

Jacksonville State at Florida State

FSU wins 19-9.  Talk about an escape.  FSU was trailing 9-7 with less than a minute to go, then scored a late touchdown and another on a fumble recovery.  Jacksonville State held their own and this was a tough way for them to lose.  I was not overly impressed with Florida State.

James Madison at Maryland

Maryland wins 38-35.  Maryland blew a 15-point lead in this one but won in overtime.  James Madison outplayed Maryland but killed themselves with over 100 penalty yards.  A week after getting crushed by California, this was hardly a fitting response for the Terps.
