Don’t bother playing Lawson tomorrow

I’m sure the UNC Tar Heels are already well aware that they are playing a 16-seed in tomorrow’s contest against Radford, and that the 16-seeds are 0-96 all-time in the NCAA Tournament’s first round. I don’t think the subtraction of Ty Lawson will mean the difference between victory and an earth-shattering defeat. Who knows, maybe Radford will play with a little more confidence, but there’s a reason the Heels are big favorites. Apparently, the word today is that Roy Williams is not going to play Lawson. It won’t make much of a difference: UNC will win by 25 as opposed to 40.

If he’s still hurting, do you play him against the team which wins the 8/9 game (I think Butler)? Butler is a good enough team, so I might have him ready then, but even so, I think they could beat Butler (or LSU) without him in that game, too. This injury will not catch UNC tomorrow, but if he misses more time, it becomes a bigger factor. UNC is my bracket’s national champion, so for their sake, I hope he pulls it together and gets back out on the court.
