One week until Selection Sunday…

…and the action is getting more interesting every day. Just think, a week from now, the bubble questions will be answered and we’ll be breaking down matchups. Anyway, this is the news:

* Davidson checked out of the Southern Conference tournament today thanks to the College of Charleston. Stephen Curry made all 8 of his free throws and scored 20, but only shot a lousy 28% from the floor. The matter at hand now is: Can Davidson collect an at-large bid to the dance? The answer is no. Their RPI going into the game was 67, and their SOS 176. Their best win all year was an unranked WVU and second-best win was not-so-good ACC team NC State. They barely played anyone and when they did, they lost most of them. Davidson will not be dancing. C of C will play Chattanooga in the SoCon final tomorrow.

* Tennessee sustained a blow today by losing at home to a blah Alabama team. It will not cost them the tournament as I think they’re safely in, but if they pull anything like that in the SEC tournament it’ll cost them seeds.

* Carolina beat Duke as I thought would happen. I am expecting Duke to get bounced in the first weekend of the tournament once again, and it’s not because they lost to UNC…it’s something I’ve been saying for about a month. Good, athletic teams can get past them and if they’re not making their 3s, forget it.

* Wisconsin had to have that win against Indiana and they got it easily. I’ve got the Badgers in the dance.
