Game 20: Boston College-Northeastern Hockey Gameday

facebooktwitterreddit

Every conference game is important for Boston College, and now, they get the first of a pair on Northeastern hockey gameday.

The #16 Eagles, winners of four in a row and 4-0-1 in their last five games, have hit their high-water mark of the season and are on the lookout for more. In tonight’s first game of the home-and-home series, they head into Boston to face the Northeastern Huskies, a team that started the season on a terrible losing streak but have rebounded.

Just how bad was that losing streak for the Huskies? They started the season with an 0-8-1 record, but are now 7-10-2 overall. For those who failed math, Northeastern is 7-2-1 in their last ten games, making them one of the hotter teams in Hockey East.

Though their chances of being one of the best teams in the conference were gone back in October and November, they have proven that in their current state they can do some damage to contenders like the Eagles. Statistically, they are one of the least prolific offensive teams, and their scoring defense is not great, either, but both are a fair bit better than they were. The Huskies got shut out three times in those first nine games, but average 3.5 goals per game over their last ten.

A four-point weekend for the Eagles would be a big deal, but to get the second two and make four, you must grab the first two. This is a crucial road game for Boston College to see if they can stretch out to their longest win streak of the season.
