In the Week 7 ACC basketball power rankings, Boston College is not going to get an early Christmas present.

Practically speaking, that gift would be an increase in the rankings from last week. Given that they lost to USC yesterday — a game in which they were favored but their defense betrayed them — that is not going to happen because of anything they did.

Yet, even though the Eagles did not earn a rise, will they get one because teams in front of them stunk up the joint? Does it also necessarily mean they are doomed to fall?

With the 2015 portion of the season fast approaching, and ACC play with it, these power rankings soon could be subject to big fluctuations. As for now, who’s on top and where are the Eagles?
