As the Boston College Eagles prepare for the Pinstripe Bowl in a few weeks, five of their players received 2014 All-New England Team honors on Tuesday.

The five were center and captain Andy Gallik, grad student quarterback Tyler Murphy, senior linebacker Josh Keyes, senior cornerback Manny Asprilla, and senior punter Alex Howell.

Leading the way for Boston College was Gallik, a graduate student who a few days ago was named as a finalist for the 2014 Rimington Trophy. This award is presented to the top center in college football. Gallik has anchored his Boston College offensive line, which helped the run game rush for over 251 yards per game so far this season.

Not for nothing, Gallik is also considered the top 2015 draft prospect at the school. It is believed amongst some NFL draft analysts that he could be a mid to late-round selection next spring, though one of the first few centers to be chosen.

Murphy has been a great addition for Boston College this season, helping propel the run game to new heights. As a sign of how well he did there, Murphy was third in the ACC in rushing with 1,074 yards while leading all quarterbacks.

Next on the 2014 All-New England Team, Josh Keyes had a tremendous regular season for the Eagles, earning renown for his performance against the USC Trojans, culminating in being named the FWAA National Defensive Player of the Week. At the moment, Keyes is third on the team with 63 tackles this year, but he leads the team in tackles for a loss (11.5) and sacks (4). The TFL figure is tied for 12th-best in the ACC.

Manny Asprilla is fourth on the team with 61 tackles this season, though his nine passes broken up is tied for eighth in the conference. Asprilla has been a consistent performer for the Eagles over his four years.

Finally, nobody on the Eagles will win an award for placekicking, but as a punter, Alex Howell did a fine job. His average of 42.9 yards was fifth-best in the ACC this season, with a long of 62.

Congratulations to all of our Eagles on the 2014 All-New England Team.
