Around America, today is a day for giving thanks, and Soaring to Glory wants to wish the Boston College community, the Atlantic Coast Conference community, and all the college sports community a Happy Thanksgiving.

More from Soaring to Glory

As a Boston College sports fan, and at times it may not seem this way, but there are reasons for giving thanks; it seems apropos to bring them to light today.

I am thankful for being a part of the Boston College community since 2004; the memories I made at the school as a student there, and the new memories I have made there since, have shaped by adulthood.

Though the results can at times be trying, we should all be giving thanks today that we are associated with a program that contends at the level it does. Boston College has the opportunity in a variety of different varsity sports to compete against the best programs in the nation. The exposure associated with this has been beneficial to our university.

More specifically, and this goes without saying but I will say it anyway, I am thankful for Jerry York, the best college hockey coach of all-time. May his benevolent reign last for another 900-something wins.

Finally, I am thankful for all of you who have stopped by at Soaring to Glory for the last five and a half years. From a lowly Blogger site to the FanSided network, it has been fun interacting with Boston College fans from all over. We have seen good times and bad in the history of this site, and it has been a continued pleasure to share them all with you.

Enjoy the company of your families on this day of giving thanks, and get ready for another big weekend of Boston College sports.
