Week 9 College Football Picks: Pick Six

Our Week 9 college football picks include a few Mississippi-themed games, a game that should be a competitive rivalry contest but probably will not be, and a Friday night game out west.

The points matter, since we pick against the spread in our weekly Pick Six segment. We will kindly note that we went 6-0 against the spread last week, which is a welcome change.

There are no games listing ACC teams; those are featured separately.

Week 9 College Football Picks: Pick One
BYU at Boise State (-7)

Friday, 9pm ET (ESPN)

Boise State is catching BYU at a good time. The Cougars have lost three in a row, the last two of which were winnable games against teams they probably should have beaten. The Broncos are not the elite force they once were, but hey, Boston College fans, they beat Colorado State.

BYU’s recent losses have been close, and this one should be as well – but just outside the spread. Boise State -7

Week 9 College Football Picks: Pick Two
Maryland at Wisconsin (-11.5)

Saturday, 12pm ET (BTN)

The difference in this game will be the Wisconsin run game, which like the Eagles puts up the vast majority of the team’s yardage. Maryland hasn’t been great on run defense.

The Terps have done a decent job so far overall this season, but Wisconsin looks like the better team. A two-touchdown win isn’t out of the question. Wisconsin -11.5

Week 9 College Football Picks: Pick Three
UCLA (-13.5) at Colorado

Saturday, 2pm ET (P12N)

UCLA should beat the snot out of Colorado, but for a team that’s ranked again in the AP, what does one make out of the Bruins? Outside of roasting Arizona State, their wins have all been close games, even the ones that probably shouldn’t have been close.

Fortunately for them, the Buffs are an abomination, but UCLA is 1-6 against the spread this year. Colorado +13.5

Week 9 College Football Picks: Pick Four
Michigan at Michigan State (-17)

Saturday, 3:30pm ET (ABC)

Speaking of abominations, one thing not frequently heard this season is “hail to the victors valiant.” Yet, with Michigan’s win over Penn State last week, Will Muschamp pulled ahead of Brady Hoke in the race for which coach will get fired first.

The Wolverines have a bunch of problems, amongst them their avoidance of scoring points. Michigan State is one of the most complete teams out there, playing good offense and defense. This could resemble the Notre Dame game earlier this year for Michigan. Michigan State -17

Week 9 College Football Picks: Pick Five
Mississippi State (-13.5) at Kentucky

Saturday, 3:30pm ET (CBS)

This should be a fun game. Kentucky is 5-0 at home, but they have not played a team this good. It will be a great atmosphere in Lexington, where behind Dak Prescott, Mississippi State will win coming off of their bye by just enough to cover. Mississippi State -13.5

Week 9 College Football Picks: Pick Six
Mississippi (-3.5) at LSU

Saturday, 7:15pm ET (ESPN)

Both Mississippi SEC teams will be on the road facing conference rivals. Ole Miss has a tougher draw than Mississippi State, but nobody wants to face the Ole Miss defense right now. Let it ride with the Rebels until they give reason otherwise. Mississippi -3.5
