Week 8 College Football Rankings: Mississippi Mania

I, for one, welcome our new Magnolia State overlords. The Mississippi State Bulldogs are number one in our Week 8 college football rankings.

Florida State, who have been first or second the whole way in our poll, fall back into second again. It’s not their fault, they’ve won all the games on their schedule, but beating top-ten teams three games in a row tends to look impressive in the eyes of the voters.

It’s nice to see some of “these other schools” make waves for a change.

Week 8 College Football Rankings:
Sayonara

We have dropped UCLA, Georgia Tech, and Missouri from the poll we published last week. UCLA was just on the outside looking in.

Duke got close to regaining a national ranking, but will need a win over Virginia and a little help next week to get back into the top 25.

Six teams in for the SEC is the fewest we have had so far this season; at one point, we had as many as eight. They do, however, have four in the top ten, so no sadness on their end.

Week 8 College Football Rankings:
Brutal Reality

Had Boston College taken care of business against Colorado State in September (meaning they would be 5-1 with a top-ten win), there is a decent chance they would be ranked right now. So close, and yet so far.
