Making predictions for Boston College hockey can be one of the easiest jobs an Eagles blogger can face. Yet, as also in the case of the coming 2014-15 Boston College hockey predictions, it might also present some personal risk.

More from Hockey

This the only Boston College men’s sport with which I can pick the team to win the national championship almost every year and not look like a homer, not that we wear maroon-tinted glasses around here, anyway.

At the same time, counting on anything less than blasting through the Frozen Four can be considered by some of the touchier amongst us as an affront to Jerry York and his great hockey program.

Which camp will we fall into today? How will the Eagles do this season with their new-look team sans Johnny Hockey?

2014-15 Boston College Hockey Predictions: The “Experts” Say…

  • The Hockey East coaches picked Boston College to finish second in the regular season behind Providence.
  • The media poll came to the same conclusion.

2014-15 Boston College Hockey Predictions: What’s Probably Going to Happen

You can pretty much pencil this team in for 20 wins every year. Looking up and down the schedule, those wins are there. For example, the Eagles can probably get at least five out of six against Merrimack, UConn, and UMass if all three look as dreadful as they did last year.

Count on a good start to the year, a mid-season lull, and a reasonably strong finish. That’s not going out on a limb, because that’s what happens every year.

As for the specifics, we are not in the business of predicting ties, but wins and losses, yes.

We are predicting a 7-3 record outside of Hockey East, non-inclusive of the Beanpot, which is outside the conference confines.

Predicting a 2-0 Beanpot, which makes it six title wins in a row.

2014-15 Boston College Hockey Predictions: Hockey East Regular Season

We predict a 16-6 regular season (32 points), for a final record of 25-9. (For reference, Boston College went 25-5-4 in the regular season last year.) The Eagles win the Hockey East regular-season title.

2014-15 Boston College Hockey Predictions: “Trophy Season”

Unless they face Notre Dame and get slowed down to nothing again, Boston College wins the Hockey East Tournament and is made a #1 seed in the East Regional in Providence, Rhode Island.

Yet, even with the Frozen Four in their hometown, they get tripped up in the regional finals against the #2 seed in the East and get sent packing. Too harsh?
