Week 5 ACC Football Picks: 2014 Season

Honestly, we’re shooting for one game over .500 in the Week 5 ACC football picks.

More from Football

That applies to both straight-up and against-the-spread, the two ways in which we pick ACC games here. We would throw in over-under, but we can’t give all of our opinions away for free.

Week 5 ACC Football Picks: Early Afternoon Games

Colorado State at Boston College (-7) | 12:30pm (ESPN3)

Pick coming tomorrow. The suspense, it builds.

Western Michigan at Virginia Tech (-21) | 12:30pm (ESPN3)

My trust level in the Hokies has crashed in the last two weeks. I assume they are going to win, because them losing three-straight at Lane Stadium would be almost inconceivable, but I am not going to assume Virginia Tech wins by at least three touchdowns. Virginia Tech | WMU +21

Akron at Pittsburgh (-20) | 1:30pm (ESPN3)

The Zips are terrible. Pitt bounces back after the Iowa disappointment. Pittsburgh | PITT -20

Week 5 ACC Football Picks: Late Afternoon Games

Wake Forest at Louisville (-22) | 3:30pm (ESPNU)

Yeah right, like I’m picking Wake. Louisville | UL -22

Florida State (-19) at NC State | 3:30pm (ABC/ESPN2)

Despite being 4-0, I’m still not sold on NC State overall given that they have played a very weak non-conference schedule. Meanwhile, FSU doesn’t look as scary as they did last season but are still #1. The Seminoles should win but we’ve seen NC State stick it to them at home in recent years. Florida State | NCST +19

Kent State at Virginia (-27) | 3:30pm (ESPN3)

Virginia is an average-looking team but they weathered a very difficult first few weeks well. Kent State is one of the worst teams in FBS so far. Hoos should roll. Virginia | UVA -27

Week 5 ACC Football Picks: Night Games

North Carolina at Clemson (-15) | 7pm (ESPNU)

One team embarrassed themselves in noble defeat against the top team; the other embarrassed themselves, period. The Heels are a disjointed team that can score 40 and give up 40; the Tigers are better. Clemson | CLEM -15

Duke at Miami (-7) | 7:30pm (ESPN2)

Duke has played a light schedule, but I don’t think they should be underdogs to Miami. Duke | Duke +7

Notre Dame (-13) vs. Syracuse | E. Rutherford, NJ | 8pm (ABC)

The Orange could do us all a favor and beat Notre Dame, but probably will not. Notre Dame | ND -13
