The Pittsburgh at Boston College opening line as the 1-0 Eagles prepare for their 2014 home opener at Alumni Stadium on Friday night is not favorable, but not terrible.

In spite of that, the Boston College Eagles are quite ready to get back to their home turf, where they played very well last season. The 2013 Eagles went 5-1 at Alumni Stadium, giving Florida State a competitive game in their only defeat. This Boston College team hopes that they can replicate those performances, even as the home schedule becomes more difficult.

The Eagles play their home opener against the Pitt Panthers, making this the first meeting between these two teams as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Boston College got their UMass cupcake out of the way on Saturday, but now it is time for the real games to begin. The game primer is as follows:

Pittsburgh at Boston College: Initial Evaluation

The Pittsburgh at Boston College opening line projected in the offseason was more like Pitt -9, and the Eagles actually opened at -1 before falling back to +4.5. From a Boston College perspective, it is good to know the team is not being written off. It will, however, be a difficult game. Pitt is nowhere near the toughest team the Eagles will face, but it is a conference foe that most believe will be a bowl team.

You can get by playing half a game against UMass, but Boston College will need a 60-minute effort against the Panthers.
