There are roles on special teams for all of these players and more; there are a number of guys who end up on the field for kickoff coverage, punt coverage, and so forth. It is one of those things that few people notice during the game — it’s the kick and punt returners who either get the glory or end up as scapegoats.

For the record, the “starting” punt return specialist in 2013 was the departed Spiffy Evans, and kickoff returns went to Dave Dudeck. Dudeck backed up Evans at PR, and Myles Willis backed up Dudeck at KR. We may see some freshmen running backs or wide receivers making the depth chart at either one of those positions.

Len Skubal is the go-to long snapper right now; expect Mike Fischer to get placed on the depth chart as the backup.
