Boston College senior running back Andre Williams has won the 2013 Doak Walker Award, presented to the nation’s top running back.

The announcement was made on Thursday night during ESPN’s presentation of the Home Depot College Football Awards in Florida.

Williams bested future bowl opponent Ka’Deem Carey of Arizona and Washington’s Bishop Sankey for the prize, becoming the first Boston College Eagle in history to claim it. He will be presented with the award at a banquet on February 13, 2014 in Dallas.

Andre Williams is in the process of wrapping an unforgettable season, having become the only Boston College Eagle to rush for at least 2,000 yards in a single season and at least 300 yards in a single game. He has already been named a unanimous All-ACC selection and figures to become an All-American.

Williams will next surface on Saturday night as a finalist for the Heisman Trophy in New York.
