Boston College at New Mexico State: Bottom Line & Pick

facebooktwitterreddit

Boston College football is, or will shortly be, on its way to Las Cruces, New Mexico to face the New Mexico State Aggies for the first time ever. Who comes out on top of this mildly historic meeting of two programs?

Boston College Best-Case Scenario
The Eagles open the floodgates with an early Andre Williams touchdown run, to be followed by five more. Andre breaks the record which he tied with Montel Williams and comes in just shy of 300 rushing yards on the afternoon. Chase Rettig throws for one more on this history-making afternoon for Andre Williams as Boston College nears the 50-point mark. Defensively, the Eagles put together a solid performance as the team wins by about 35 for their most lopsided win of the year.

Boston College Worst-Case Scenario
Boston College remembers they’re on the road and struggles out of the gate, initially falling behind the Aggies, prompting terrified screams of horror on Twitter and calls for the coach to be fired. The Eagles restore order and eventually win the game, but “only” by two scores after a second-half comeback. No records broken for Andre Williams in a game that’s a lot scarier than it has to be.

Bottom Line
Last week was more or less a signature win for the Eagles. A bowl appearance is theirs for the taking and they know full well that they cannot afford to undo whatever good they did last week by screwing up the easiest game they have the rest of the way.

New Mexico State is a bad non-AQ football team, and the Eagles are an average ACC team. The average ACC team should win this game 49 times out of 50.
