There are just two home games left for Boston College Eagles football this year. For the second-straight season, they will host the Virginia Tech Hokies in Chestnut Hill. With both teams coming off of a loss, who will get the better of this matchup?

Boston College Best-Case Scenario
In the absolutely most ideal scenario for the Eagles, the game looks a lot like the one the Hokies played against Duke last week. Both teams are engaged in a low-scoring battle, which though frustrating at times ultimately plays off. The Hokies fail to make a few red zone conversions and a late Nate Freese field goal gives Boston College an upset win.

Boston College Worst-Case Scenario
This scenario probably looks a lot like the game these two teams played in 2010. Boston College’s defense did admirably there, allowing just 19 points, but the Eagles offense was shut out. In an extremely frustrating game, the Eagles get shut out again, somewhere in the neighborhood of 17-0.

Bottom Line
Virginia Tech’s defense is good, there’s no question about that. The question to answer here is which Eagles team shows up on Saturday: will it be the one that struggled last week against North Carolina, or will it be the team that put 34 points on Florida State?

Boston College does play better at home, so I think they keep this thing interesting, but the Hokies will most likely come up with one too many stops as they narrowly escape from Alumni Stadium with a win.
