According to a report from the Associated Press, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel will approve a request for the service academies to be able to play their scheduled football games. Brett McMurphy of ESPN first reported that Boston College Eagles football will play its home game against the Army Black Knights on Saturday as intended.

For the previous two days, the status of the game had been in question due to the federal government shutdown. Thankfully, the players will not be held responsible for events out of their control.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern.

UPDATE: Not so fast.

Media reports that the game will be played on schedule have been downplayed by Athletic Director Brad Bates.
