Boston College Eagles football is approaching a game of actual consequence. In the last few seasons, the Eagles played in big games before, but they always felt futile. This time, BC can get their first 3-0 start in six years and put themselves well on their way to bowl eligibility.

It goes without saying, then, that there are many things we would like to know about what the Eagles will face from their opposition. For that, we turn to Michael Castillo, erstwhile editor of Reign of Troy, the USC Trojans outfit on our network, and fellow FanSided old-timer.

5. It would appear USC fans feel the same way about Lane Kiffin that we did about Frank Spaziani. If you had to describe his whole tenure so far in one word or phrase, what would it be and why?

MC: Confusing. There’s been so many ups and so many downs, with weird decisions, underachieving and overachieving all thrown in together. At one point last year I thought Kiffin dialed back the playbook because he was overthinking and scrubbing film for other opponents. His fantastic coaching of 2011 earned him that benefit of the doubt. But since then and especially after he admitted that there wasn’t an offensive gameplan other than “not screwing up” against Washington State, there’s nothing to do but scratch your head and wonder if he’s thinking at all.
