The Boston College Eagles football season is just 23 days away. That’s not a lot, ya know.
Who Wears 23 Now
Myles Willis, RB, freshman
Willis is a multi-talented football player from Georgia who played for the Marist School before coming to Boston College. He quarterbacked and ran the ball, doing both successfully — so successfully, in fact, that Willis was Georgia AAAA Region 6A All-State Offensive Most Valuable Player and second team all-state.
It’s a tough call on whether or not he redshirts this year. One might want to save him for next year, but with the lack of depth at the position, he will probably play as a true freshman, and would likely be one of the best options.

• Troy Stradford, RB, 1982-86. One of BC’s best running backs of all-time.
• Jim Noel, DB, 2009-12. 2012 team captain; previous owner of #23.
• Kelly Elias, LB, 1974-77. 1977 team captain; twice All-ECAC.
• John Matich, K, 1996-99. One of BC’s most productive kickers.
• Keith Miller, FB, 1990-93. 1,115 career yards and nine touchdowns.
Hall of Famer
Mike Holovak scored 23 touchdowns during his Boston College football career, and those 23 touchdowns helped get him in the College Football Hall.
Some Other Good Players
Like Holovak, Steve Strachan and Dan Conway also had 23 career touchdowns as Eagles.
Remember Him?
Boston College quarterback Quinton Porter threw 23 touchdowns as an Eagle. So did Jack Concannon, a quarterback from the early 1960s.

Shawn Halloran owns the dubious record of most interceptions thrown in a single season with 23 (1985).

Sandro Sciortino, former Eagles kicker, owns the record for most field goals made in a single season with 23 (2002).
