Josh Keyes, LB, junior

Keyes will enter his third season as a Boston College Eagle. As a true freshman, he appeared in nine games in the defensive backfield and made eight tackles. Last season, Keyes played in ten games and made it to 20 tackles. Now, this upstate New Yorker is listed as a linebacker as is currently listed as Kevin Pierre-Louis’s backup at strong-side linebacker.

Notables Who Wore 25

Chris Fox, SS, 2007-10. Finally became a starter by his senior year.
Ed Furbush, E, 1933-35. Subject of this major blast from the past.

Stoppages

Stoppages II

The all-time record for BC tackles in a game is 25; it has been done three times: Frank Chamberlin vs. Syracuse (1999), Stephen Boyd vs. VT (1994), and Tom McManus vs. Rutgers (1991).

Spiffy Indeed

Helped quite a bit by his punt return touchdown, Spiffy Evans averaged 25 yards per punt return last season. This led the ACC, though he was third in terms of yardage. That number is currently the highest average in BC history, though he still has two years to go.

More Yardage

Spenser Rositano collected 25 all-purpose yards on defense last year, with one on a punt return and the other 24 coming on a pick return.

Merry Christmas

The Eagles have played in twos bowl on the 25th of December: the 1994 Jeep Aloha Bowl and the 2000 Jeep Aloha Bowl. BC won both, 12-7 and 31-17, respectively.

The Miracle in Charlotte

Boston College got to 25 points as time expired in the 2006 Meineke Car Care Bowl, winning 25-24 on a last-second Steve Aponavicius field goal.

Picks

Tony Thurman is the all-time Boston College leader in interceptions, having collected 25.

Ground Touchdowns

Derrick Knight and Mike Cloud both scored 25 rushing touchdowns during their Boston College careers.

Air Touchdowns

Air Touchdowns II

Glenn Foley and Brian St. Pierre both had career-high 25-touchdown seasons, Foley’s in 1993 and St. Pierre’s in 2001. St. Pierre’s 25 are the most ever thrown by a junior quarterback at Boston College.
