facebooktwitterreddit

With only 38 days remaining until the start of the 2013 Boston College football season, a reminder: we’re only a few weeks from the position previews and all other preseason festivities beginning right here on Soaring to Glory. In fact, I will tell you for certain that we are approximately two and a half weeks from that, so stay tuned.

Who Wears 38 Now

Ted Davenport, DB, junior

Davenport is a former walk-on to the football team who was awarded a scholarship last summer. He saw his first game action as a redshirt freshman in 2011, appearing in four games but not recording any statistics. Last year, as a scholarship sophomore, he appeared in all 12 games and made four tackles.

At the end of last season, Davenport was second on the two-deep at boundary corner behind starter Sean Sylvia.

Notables Who Wore 38

Jim Budness, LB, 1978-81. Bulger Lowe Award-winning linebacker.
Survival Ross, RB, 2003-06. Seriously, who could forget that name?

A Notable Who Played in ’38

Bill Flynn, former 30+ year athletic director for whom “The Plex” is named, was football team captain in 1938.

A Deuce Times 19

Rolandan Finch’s longest rush of the 2012 season was a 38-yarder against Virginia Tech.

Making A Comeback

In returning from injury last season, appearing in just over half of the team’s games, WR Bobby Swigert averaged 38 yards per game.

Making A Comeback II

In Boston College’s last-minute win over Maryland last season, a key play for the Eagles was a 38-yard pass from Chase Rettig to Alex Amidon in the first play from scrimmage in the second half. BC would go on to score on that drive.

At A Loss

Former Eagles DT Tim Bulman is fourth on the program list with 38 tackles for a loss.
