3. Notre Dame’s defensive statistics are excellent across the board, but those are just stats. Is Bob Diaco’s defense as good as advertised?
STS: Notre Dame held the 15th best scoring offense in the nation, Oklahoma, to 13 points in that game. They average 39.5 for the season. Bob Diaco has done an excellent job this year at working around his weaknesses and working towards his strengths. This is NOT an SEC-caliber defense but it is very close. Notre Dame’s front seven is as good as any in the country. The back end of the defense is what is preventing the Irish from going from very good to elite status.
