It may only be the regular-season crown, but it’s a crown nonetheless.

On Saturday night at Conte Forum, the Boston College Eagles defeated the Vermont Catamounts, 4-0. BC swept Vermont in their season series and the Eagles have won eleven games in a row overall. Most importantly, Saturday’s victory sealed the Hockey East regular-season title, ensuring that they will be the top seed in the upcoming Hockey East Tournament.

For the Eagles, it is also their third shutout win in their last four games.

Four goals went into the net for the Eagles tonight; they were:

• Destry Straight at 19:06 of the first period (Alber assisted)
• Chris Kreider at 6:50 of the second period (Straight assisted)
• Pat Mullane at 14:31 of the third period (Gaudreau and Carey assisted)
• Bill Arnold with an empty net at 19:10 of the third (Whitney and Almeida assisted)

Eagles goalie Parker Milner stopped all 26 Catamounts shots on goal; senior Chris Venti played for the last fifty seconds in his final home game.

This was the first game in the last thirteen where the Eagles did not score a power play goal.

That won’t bother them, however, as they are one trophy closer to the ultimate goal. They will draw #8 seed UMass in the Hockey East Tournament; elsewhere, UMass-Lowell takes on Providence, BU faces New Hampshire, and Merrimack draws Maine.

The hunt for the Lamoriello Trophy begins on Friday, March 9.
