Report: Sean Desai to Become BC Special Teams Coach

facebooktwitterreddit

Late on Sunday night, Boston College Eagles fans learned that Sean Desai, the assistant director of football operations at ACC rival Miami, was hired as BC’s new special teams coordinator. He will officially replace Mike Dawson at this position; Dave Brock was previously named as the coordinator, but he left for Rutgers before coaching a game.

There is not much of a file on Desai, but here is what we do know:

• He is 29
• He is from New England (Connecticut)
• Desai did his undergrad study at BU (ick)
• He received his Master’s from Columbia
• He earned his Ph.D. from Temple while working with Al Golden on their football staff

Unlike some of the other new coaches BC has brought in, there is not much of a file on Desai, and a big part of why is because he’s young. As a result, I cannot make concrete determinations about his coaching ability, what he brings to the table, how he will do at Boston College, and so on.

What I can say is that there is no reason for any Eagles fan to pan the hire. All indications are that they have hired someone eager, intelligent, and with a solid work ethic. Credit must be given where it is due, and though I cannot say that I’m familiar with Coach Desai, I see no reason to take issue with it and have reason to believe he might be a net positive for the team.

The Boston College community would like to welcome Desai to Chestnut Hill and wish him the best of luck (but Coach, if you’re reading this, you might not want to mention your undergrad school around here, especially on Beanpot Championship Monday).
